US court jailed Atlanta educators over massive school cheating scandal

A total of 10 educators sentenced to imprisonment by a court in the State of Atlanta, USA, for their involvement in changing test answers the students that the results of their test scores for the better.

Judge Jerry Baxter said to-10 educators that includes superintendent, principals, teachers, employees of administration, and the test coordinator guilty of deliberately changing test answers that appears to increase the ability of students.

If the ability of students showed significant progress, it is a practical impact on the bonuses and their income.

"It's the most disgusting thing that ever happened in this town," the judge said Baxter.

Three of the 10 defendants sentenced to 20 years in prison with the details of seven years languishing in prison, while remaining outside the prison.

The third figure who served as superintendent of schools that also have to work as a public servant for 2,000 hours without pay and a fine of 25 thousand dollars.

Five educators, which includes principals, vice-principals, and teachers, was sentenced to five years in prison with details languishing one to two years in jail and the rest outside the jail.

They also had to work as a public servant for 1,000 to 1,500 hours without pay and fines ranging from 1,000-5,000 dollars.

Then two people convicted lighter because they plead guilty. One of them undergo imprisonment only on weekends for six months, working in the public service sector for 1,500 hours without pay, and fined 5,000 dollars.

Scandal in the State of Atlanta began in 2009, when the newspaper reporter The Atlanta Journal-Constitution detect anomalies in the test scores a number of school students who show dramatic results.

Atlanta governor, Sonny Perdue, then ordered his staff begin a thorough investigation.

The report, completed in 2011, concluded that at least 44 schools involved in the irregularities which organized.
