15th season of American Idol which will air next year will be the last, said the US TV station, Fox.
Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban will return to the jury next year, and Ryan Seacrest will continue to host the event.
According to Fox, this season the event is a "celebration event" in honor of the participants, winners and fans.
American Idol was created by Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell in 2002, based on a similar event in the UK called Pop Idol.
Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson- has paved the way for another contest like The X Factor and The Voice.
Through this event, some of the winners start their careers, such as the winner of the first season, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks and Adam Lambert.
The celebrities who had been a judge at the event include Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Steven Tyler, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres. American Idol also boosted the host Ryan Seacrest, who initially brought this event with Brian Dunkleman.
The singing contest ever attract more than 36 million viewers in its heyday in 2006. However, their ratings continue to decline thereafter. The number of spectators this season has slipped only 11.6 million viewers.
