The Government of Thailand, on Friday (01/05/2015), discovered a mass grave in an abandoned camp in the forest which is believed to contain the bodies of the boat people and immigrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The mass grave was in a camp abandoned in a forest in Sadao district, Songkhla province border with Malaysia. This discovery comes as Thailand's military junta promised to eradicate human trafficking in the region.
"There are 32 graves, so far already four bodies were successfully removed and was taken to hospital for autopsy," said Sathit Thamsuwan, a member of the rescue team who were at the site.
"All the bodies had decomposed. The citizens of Bangladesh were emaciated found alive and being treated at a hospital near Padang Besar," added Thamsuwan.
Meanwhile, the Thai police chief General Somyot Poompanmoung describe the location of a mass grave as a "prison camp" where immigrants detained in the cells are made of bamboo.
"There are 32 locations that looked like graves and whether there is one or several bodies in the grave, we have to wait," said Poompanmoung.
He believes people smugglers seem to leave Bangladesh sick man when they move Rohingya immigrants crossing the border Malaysia two days ago.
Local media reported, the immigrant camps and the Bangladeshi man was accidentally discovered by villagers who were looking for mushrooms in the woods.
Thailand and Malaysia border region is known to have many secret camps in the jungle to detain illegal immigrants.
