White House Situation room 2011
The White House denied Seymour Hersh's controversial report accusing lies about a military operation that killed Osama bin Laden in 2011. The United States has called the report totally unfounded and highly inaccurate.
"There are a lot of inaccuracies and unsubstantiated statements in this article for each checked one another," said a spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House, Ned Price in a statement to reporters.
Specifically, Price called the statement investigative journalist Seymour Hersh about the cooperation between the US and Pakistani intelligence in the operation that killed al-Qaeda leader, is very inaccurate.
"The idea that the operation that killed Osama bin Laden is not a party of the US mission is a big one," said Price.
"As we said before, information about this operation is only limited to a very small circle between senior US officials. President (Obama-red) decided not to tell the other governments, including the government of Pakistan, which was not notified until after the raid happened," he explained.
"We really were and continue to partner with Pakistan in a joint effort to combat Al-Qaeda, but this is purely US operations," added Price.
This is not the only US response to the Hersh report, reaping a lot of public attention. In his article published in the London Review of Books this week, Hersh claims the actual situation in a military operation that killed Osama is not as long as this is delivered by the US.
Denials also delivered by White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, citing national security issues CNN analyst Peter Bergen who said: "What is right in this story is not new, and new things in this story is not true."
"I think it is the right way to describe why none of the parties who are concerned about the report," said Earnest told local reporters.
Separately, a US official who understand the military operation that killed bin Laden in Pakistan, also commented. The officials told CNN, based on the existing reaction, it is clear that the Pakistani authorities did not know of the existence of US military operations in Pakistan territory.
